CHG CONTINUES WITH THE WORK OF CONTROLLING AND ELIMINATING WATER HYACINTH IN THE GUADIANA RIVER

In the month of May they have been used in the works of extraction of jancito of water an average of 30 boats, 5 backhoes, 5 trucks and a tractor as mechanical means and 98 workers, between which is the device of the project ACECA that operates in the section B.

All the devices are active once overcome the state of alarm caused by the COVID-19.

In the sections B2 and B3 works of extraction of plant of the lateral masses of water to the river are being made.

The presence of plant in subsection A3 has been considerably reduced, so that the state of the subsection has changed to yellow (presence of small water hyacinth spots).

In these summer months, with a favourable climate and an increase in water temperature, there is an increase in the plant’s vegetative activity, and it currently presents a very vigorous aspect with the presence of numerous inflorescences. These favorable conditions favor the germination of the plant by finding small plants from the seed. In this sense, all the prevention, surveillance and warning devices are kept active in the already clean sub-sections, paying special attention to the possible sources of seeds that are being found.

In May, a total of 14,363.04 tons of water hyacinth were extracted from the Guadiana River.
