Next Monday, 23rd September 2019, a Technical Conference on ACECA project will be held in Merida.

The partners of the ACECA project “Actions for the control and elimination of the water hyacinth in the transboundary section of the Guadiana river” celebrate a technical day on the control of the water hyacinth. The General Director of Sustainability, Jesus Moreno, and the President of the Hydrographic Confederation of the Guadiana, Samuel Moraleda, will attend the opening ceremony that will take place in the School of Public Administrations.

The project, co-financed with FEDER funds, is led by the Guadiana River Basin Authority, which together with the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Sustainability, responsible for the Early Warning Network in Extremadura, and the Portuguese Environment Agency, the Administration of the Alentejo River Basin Region and the Alqueva Development and Infrastructure Company form the project partnership.

During the conference, aimed at personnel from the Public Administration and the agricultural sector, the problems of bio-invasion produced by the water hyacinth, the methods used for its removal and the monitoring of the river will be presented.
